On behalf of South Side Help Center, I would like to thank you for visiting our website. We thank you for your interest in The South Side Help Center and its continued efforts to uplift, organize and revitalize our community.

We are extremely fortunate to have survived for over twenty years. It has been challenging, yet rewarding. South Side Help Center has weathered changing political climates and decreased funding. But we have endured.

South Side Help Center was established in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) minority not-for-profit organization by community residents who were motivated by the need to provide education and information, on a variety of health topics, to the residents of the south side of Chicago and surrounding suburbs. South Side Help Center is dedicated to identifying and addressing the health and social support needs of African Americans, who as a population, suffer greater disparities in healthcare and, as a result, are at greater risk for HIV infection. All of our programs include comprehensive prevention education which includes STD, TB, substance abuse, and other preventative health topics. As resources are made available, our efforts are adapted towards meeting and expanding community services.

We thank you for your interest in South Side Help Center and who we are.  We hope that our website serves to give you a glimpse of the tremendous successes we have had throughout the years.

Sincerely,

Vanessa Smith
