Capacity Building AssistanceSouth Side Help Center’s Statewide Capacity Building program is a collaborative project with the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Office of Lesbian and Gay Health, established to improve HIV prevention services targeting African American men who have sex with other men. This program provides technical assistance and consultation for organizations that currently provide HIV prevention services or are interested in implementing new services for this population throughout the state of Illinois. Workshop presentations feature “Kevin’s Room”, an informative television drama produced by the Chicago Department of Public Health to inform communities about AIDS and gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. Workshops provide interested organizations an introduction to specific methods that will promote successful interventions with African American men who have sex with men. Participant organizations receive tailored technical assistance to identify program development needs and support in developing appropriate strategies to address them.
